Fatherhood is built through ordinary moments: listening, teaching, encouraging, solving problems, and being present even when the answers are not easy.
The Union County Fatherhood Initiative Coalition—UCFIC—helps create the conditions in which more of those moments can happen.
Established in Union County, New Jersey, UCFIC provides programs and support designed around the experiences of fathers and men, with particular attention to Black and Latino communities. Its work recognizes that supporting fathers is also an investment in children, families, and neighborhoods.
A place to learn and connect
Fatherhood can carry enormous responsibility, but many men are expected to navigate it without enough guidance or community support.
UCFIC creates opportunities for fathers to learn from practitioners, mentors, community leaders, and one another. Its programming addresses practical dimensions of life including relationships, wellness, communication, employment, financial stability, and personal development.
These subjects are connected. A father’s ability to support his family can be affected by his health, confidence, relationships, access to resources, and sense of purpose.
